We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Inspector / Expeditor to join an established and specialist engineering company based in Huddersfield.

Role Details

  • Meeting the needs of customers, ensuring that each product or service is delivered cost-effectively, speedily and to the highest quality.
  • Fulfilling own responsibilities within the current Health and Safety and Employment Law.
  • Providing assistance to other members of staff in fulfilling their duties and responsibilities.
  • Giving your best in terms of quality of work and value for money.
  • Resolving any concerns or issues with your immediate Colleagues, and Manager.
  • Liaising with your Manager to resolve any persistent or unresolved problems encountered.
  • Reporting immediately to your Manager any Health & Safety regulations which may be potentially breached in the absence of your Manager report to any Director.
  • Setting a good example when supporting management and implementing change.
  • Assisting all colleagues in paperwork and cleaning duties and feeding back views, ideas and concerns to the Management Team.


  • Carry out in-house training when necessary.
  • Review orders for outwork.
  • Liaise with production control department.
  • Assess the requirement for inspection and/or expediting involvement.
  • Communicate with suppliers
  • Visit suppliers as appropriate to inspect and expedite orders.
  • Prepare and carry suitable equipment for inspection visits.
  • Ensure that suppliers respond correctly to the results of inspection and expediting.
  • Carry out goods inward inspection of all outwork.
  • Ensure that checked outwork is directed to the appropriate storage facility
  • Record defects/Non conformities to drawing and report to appropriate department.
  • Ensure that corrective action is approved in line with the quality system.
  • Expedite deliveries of raw materials when requested by procurement.
  • Organise visits to make best use of travelling time.
  • Attend meetings as required to discuss issues relevant to the performance of the Quality System
  • Identify and report trends where quality issues arise.
  • Ensure that all measuring equipment, gauges and associated equipment are calibrated and maintained to meet the requirements of the company documentation.
  • Carry out detailed inspection of components, first off, sample and final inspection.
  • Check that raw material deliveries meet the requirements of the purchase order.
  • Check that material certification complies with both the purchase order and Hystat’s Quality System requirements.

  • Meet regularly with Quality Engineer/Quality manager to discuss progress and reset immediate goals
  • Assist in planning for the company’s growth, profitability and expansion as identified by the business plan.
  • Ensure that communications at all levels are appropriate and effective
  • Cover for other Inspectors as required
  • Promote a culture of high quality and performance
