We are currently supporting a specialist engineering firm who are now keen to recruit a Trainee Engineering Estimator (Degree student or Graduate).

Role Details

  • Working closely with the Estimating Manager and with full support and training.
  • Compiling quotations for products within their range.
  • Clarifying customer needs and expectations.
  • Discussing technical features of proposals with customers.
  • Obtaining quotes for all predicted requirements from suppliers and sub-contractors.
  • Calculating cost of materials, transport, labour and equipment hire.
  • Making use of relevant computer software such as Excel, Word.
  • Liaising with other Departments such as planners and design teams.


  • Ideally, an understanding of AutoCAD - but not essential.


  • Degree student or Graduate
  • An interest in Engineering
  • Competent Microsoft user.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexible.
  • Used to working to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Analytically minded, with the ability to undertake financial analysis.
  • Good team player.
  • Organised and methodical.
  • Aware of data confidentiality
