We are currently recruiting for a Design Technician to join a busy manufacturing and fabrication environment.
This role will involve producing detailed manufacturing drawings, job packs and CNC punch programmes to support production from order through to manufacture.
Main Responsibilities
- Create 3D SolidWorks models from customer drawings and specifications
- Produce fabrication and assembly drawings for production
- Create DXF files and import into SigmaNest / Stream Punch
- Prepare and optimise nests for CNC punch machinery
- Ensure correct materials and quantities are allocated to production schedules
- Liaise with production, sales and customers regarding design or fabrication queries
- Support production teams with technical and fabrication information
- Troubleshoot drawing or production issues and maintain accurate documentation
- Ensure work is completed accurately, efficiently and in line with health and safety procedures
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience within a manufacturing or fabrication environment
- Working knowledge of 3D SolidWorks, specifically sheet metal and drawings
- Understanding of fabrication techniques and engineering drawings
- Experience working with CNC punch machinery or punch programming
- Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills
- Good communication and IT skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Positive attitude with a “right first time” approach
Desirable
- Experience using SigmaNest or Stream Punch
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques and quality improvement tools
