We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well established and growing engineering and manufacturing business. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 2 to 3 years’ design engineering experience who is looking to develop their career within a modern and technically advanced environment.

Skills & Experience Required:
- Previous experience within a Mechanical Design Engineer or similar role
- Minimum 2 to 3 years’ experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment
- Experience using SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software
- Good understanding of mechanical engineering and manufacturing processes
- Ability to read and produce engineering drawings
- Strong communication and problem solving skills
- Good organisational skills and ability to manage workload effectively
- Confident using Microsoft Excel and general IT systems
Advantageous but not essential:
- HNC, Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Design Engineering
- Experience within aerospace, defence or other precision engineering sectors
- Knowledge of APQP or NPI processes
- Experience working with CNC machining, fabrication or assembly processes
- Exposure to project management activities
- Understanding of FMEA and design validation processes
Key Responsibilities:
- Producing 3D models, detailed drawings and mechanical designs using CAD software
- Creating and updating bills of materials, process documentation and engineering records
- Supporting prototype builds, testing and validation activities
- Working closely with manufacturing and production teams to support efficient manufacture
- Assisting with design improvements and new product development projects
- Liaising with customers and subcontractors regarding technical requirements
- Supporting technical queries and engineering problem solving activities
- Ensuring designs meet quality, safety and customer requirements
